Top three senior girls basketball teams remain undefeated

Posted: October 1st, 2013 @ 9:29pm

Madelin Fellows scored a season-best 16 points Tuesday to lead the La Salle Black Knights to a 50-5 win over the Granite Ridge Gryphons in a Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association senior girls basketball game at La Salle.

Emily Delyea's four points accounted for 80 per cent of Granite Ridge's scoring.

Unbeaten La Salle, 4-0, kept pace with the league's other two remaining undefeated teams, as the the Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers beat the Loyalist Lancers 63-27 and the Frontenac Falcons prevailed 44-38 despite facing a more difficult challenge from the winless Kingston Blues.

In other senior games Tuesday, the Bayridge Blazers gained their first win of the season, 40-29 over the Queen Elizabeth Raiders, and the Sydenham Golden Eagles improved to 3-1 with a 33-24 win over the struggling defending county champion Holy Cross Crusaders, who dropped their second game in a row.

Alex Leggett led Bayridge with 21 points, while QE, 0-4, got a 17-point performance from Jessie Northmore.

At Regi, Alex Gilmour drained four three-point baskets to help subdue Loyalist, which came into the game with a 3-1 record but has now lost two of its last three.
