Gold medal for Holy Cross wrestler

Chris Waltner of Holy Cross won a gold medal Thursday at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations wrestling championships in Guelph.

Waltner, bronze medalist at 50 kilos last summer at the national juvenile championships in Fredericton, defeated Chris McIsaac of Orillia Patrick Fogarty in the final of boys under-54 kilogram division. A year ago,  Waltner was sixth at OFSAA at 51 kilograms.

Ameen Aghamiriam of Regiopolis Notre Dame placed fifth in boys 89-kilogram division, while Mikala Wheeler of Holy Cross was sixth in competition for girls under 51 kilograms.
