Regi eliminated at OFSAA field hockey tournament

Posted: November 8th, 2014 @ 12:06am

The bloom that was on the Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers at the provincial high school field hockey championship quickly faded Friday.

After opening the 16-team Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations tournament in Burlington with back-to-back victories Thursday, the seventh-seeded Panthers dropped both of their games Friday and were eliminated.

Regi lost its final game of the preliminary round to Waterloo Bluevale, the No. 2 seed, 3-0 and then the Panthers, the Kingston Area and eastern Ontario champions, were eliminated by a 4-0 quarter-final loss to Kitchener Resurrection, the tournament's top-seeded team.

Resurrection has won three of the last four OFSAA championships.
