Dragons get first senior volleyball victory

Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers got their fourth win of the season Tuesday, and the Marie-Rivier Dragons got their first in Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association senior boys volleyball play.

The Panthers improved to 4-0 win a straight-sets win over the Blazers at Bayridge, with middles Dan Niles and Nick Savoie delivering seven kills apiece for Regi.

Marie-Rivier, meanwhile, evened its record at 1-1 with a 3-1 home-court victory over the Napanee Golden Hawks.

Elsewhere Tuesday, La Salle Black Knights handed the Frontenac Falcons their third straight defeat, 3-1 at La Salle; the Kingston Blues ended Granite Ridge’s two-game home winning streak with a 3-0 win over the Gryphons in Sharbot Lake, and the Loyalist Lancers and Sydenham Golden Eagles both joined KC at 3-1, LC with a 3-0 win at Holy Cross, and Sydenham with a 3-0 victory over the Raiders at Queen Elizabeth.

Play resumes Wednesday afternoon when the schools about to merge, the Blues and Raiders, play at KC. On a five-match slate Thursday, two of the league’s top four teams will clash in Sydenham, where Regi, 4-0, will visit the Golden Eagles.
