Sydenham Golden Eagles claimed sole possession of first place Thursday afternoon, with a 3-0 win over the previously unbeaten Kingston Blues in a Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association senior girls volleyball match.

Playing at home, the Golden Eagles improved to 4-0, while the Blues slipped to 3-1.

Meanwhile, the Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers and Frontenac Falcons both moved half a game ahead of KC, each posting their third-straight win, both in straight sets, over the Napanee Golden Hawks and La Salle Black Knights, respectively.

At Regi, the Panthers fell behind in the first set but they eventually won it, 25-20. They completed the sweep with wins of 25-15, 25-21 in the next two sets. Left sides Emma McLean and Hailey Wolfgram combined for 12 kills and 16 service points, while middle Teigen Rook had 8 kills.

Elsewhere, the Holy Cross Crusaders won their first match of the young season, 3-0 over Mille-Iles; the Ernestown Eagles improved to 2-1 with a 3-2 victory over the Dragons at Marie-Rivier, and the Bayridge Blazers got their first win in four tries, 3-0 at home over the winless Granite Ridge Gryphons.
