Mark Surya, a member of the Queen's Golden Gaels 2009 national championship football team, has been named to the coaching staff of the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks.

Surya had 24 catches during the 2009 season, and five more in the Gaels' playoff run to the Vanier Cup. He had 44 receptions in his three seasons at Queen's, and 43 more, for 544 yards and six touchdowns, in his final two intercollegiate seasons at Laurier.

Originally from Burlington, Surya will coach the receivers for new Laurier head coach Michael Faulds.
