La Salle wins twice, advances to semifinals at EOSSAA double-A basketball tournament

Posted: February 20th, 2014 @ 10:19pm

La Salle Black Knights will play in the semifinals Friday morning at the Eastern Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association AA basketball championship in Pembroke.

The Knights will face Smiths Falls at 10 o'clock after winning their two preliminary games Thursday at the two-day, six-team tournament.

Jesse Graham had 24 points and 14 rebounds in La Salle's opening game, a 68-54 win over St. Michael of Kemptville. Braden Elliott added 18 points to the winning cause.

In their second game, the Knights got 30 points from Jesse Graham and 22 from his brother, Tanner, in an 88-38 win over L'Escale of Rockland.

The Knights got a boost from the return of starting guard Nick Ackley. Ackley, who suffered an eye injury three weeks ago and played sparingly in the Kingston Area final Sunday, had a second eye operation Tuesday.

The winner of this tournament qualifies to play in the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations AA tournament, March 3-5 in Perth.
