Regi continues winning ways

Playing without their top player, post forward Anne Wagar, the Frontenac Falcons were easy pickings for the Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers Tuesday afternoon, and the Panthers took advantage to claim a 51-19 win in a Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association senior A girls basketball game at Frontenac.

The win was the eighth, without defeat, for league-leading Regi, which got 10 points from Kallysta Deodato and nine from Alex Gilmour.

Regi led 18-8 at halftime and put the game away with 33 points in the second half, more points in half a game than all but one other senior A team scored Tuesday in their entiire contest.

The exception was the Holy Cross Crusaders, who stayed within two points of Regi with a 34-27 home-court win over the La Salle Black Knights. The Crusaders will be seeking to avenge their only defeat, an 11-point loss at home on Oct. 2, when they visit Regi for the rematch Thursday night at 7 o'clock.

In the other senior A game Tuesday, the Sydenham Golden Eagles got their second win in eight games, edging the Bayridge Blazers 21-19. The loss left Bayridge at 1-7.

In senior B division play, the Kingston Blues clinched first place with a 54-25 win over the Ernestown Eagles and Kya Munroe scored eight points to lead the Queen Elizabeth Raiders to a 48-24 win over the Granite Ridge Gryphons.
