Volleyball Blues move into second

Posted: November 4th, 2015 @ 12:15am

Kingston Blues took over sole possession of second place in high school senior boys volleyball play Tuesday, with a straight-sets win over the Bayridge Blazers.

The Blues triumphed 25-16, 25-8, 25-7, improving their record to 9-2, two points ahead of the idle Sydenham Golden Eagles, and four behind the undefeated Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers.

In Tuesday’s only other Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association senior boys volleyball match, the La Salle Black Knights climbed back to .500 with a 3-1 home-court win over the Queen Elizabeth Raiders.

Marie-Rivier, meanwhile, improved to 6-4 as the Dragons’ default victory over the disbanded Frontenac Falcons went into the books. That’s good for a share of fifth place with Holy Cross.

The regular season schedule concludes with a full slate of six matches Thursday, including one at Loyalist where the Lancers, 7-3, will host Sydenham, 8-2, in a contest that could ultimately do much to determine third place.
