Kingston cyclist wins gold at Canada Summer Games

 Kingston cyclist Anne Foreman-Mackey won the gold medal Monday morning in the women's time trial at the Canada Summer Games road course at Ste-Catherine-de-Hatley, Que.
A final-year health sciences student at McMaster University, Foreman-Mackey, 22, led the 33-rider field in 21 minutes 46.42 seconds, 1.39 seconds ahead of silver medalist Alizee Brien of Quebec. Foreman-Mackey's Ontario teammate Saskia Charlotte Kowalchuk of Hamilton was third in 22:10.59.
Kingston fencer Celeste Suart advanced through two rounds of competition in individual women's sabre competition before she was eliminated in the quarter-finals at CEGEP Sherbrooke. Suart, a Regiopolis Notre Dame grad bound next month for McMaster, was beaten 15-6 by Madison Thurgood of Alberta.
