Holy Cross remains undefeated in high school boys hockey play

Posted: December 11th, 2013 @ 9:24pm

Holy Cross Crusaders continue to vex opponents in the young Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association boys hockey season, defeating the Ernestown Eagles 6-0 in a game Wednesday afternoon at W.J. Henderson Arena.

In winning their two games this year, the Crusaders, who represented eastern Ontario at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations tournament in March, have outscored their opponents 14-1.

In the only game played Wednesday, Matt Marino scored three times to lead Holy Cross. Brandon Nadeau had two goals and Jake Morley the other, while Josh Kurish collected three assists. Rookie goaltender Matt Villalta posted the shutout.

The win enabled Holy Cross to move within two points of league-leading Frontenac, which has won all three of its games this year, and into a second-place tie with Regiopolis Notre Dame, which is also 2-0.

On the final day of play before the Christmas break, La Salle will visit Napanee Thursday while Regi will play Sydenham in Piccadilly.
