Regi senior girls remain unbeaten

Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers remained the only undefeated team in the league, and the Marie-Rivier Dragons clinched a playoff spot Wednesday in Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association senior girls soccer play.

Regi, 5-0, sent the Kingston Blues to their second defeat in six games with a 6-1 victory. Kaitlyn Balfour, with three goals, Emily Rowsell, with two, and Nora Lloyd-Ellis scored for the Panthers.

Marie-Rivier, meanwhile, improved to 3-2 with its third consecutive shutout win, 1-0 over the Loyalist Lancers.

Elsewhere, the Frontenac Falcons and La Salle Black Knights battled to a scoreless tie; the Holy Cross Crusaders improved to 5-1 with an 8-0 win over the Bayridge Blazers, and the Sydenham Golden Eagles moved into a fourth-place tie with KC with a 5-0 win over the Napanee Golden Hawks.

Ashley MacDonald, with two, Alison Dodwell, Claire Nelson, Christina Papadakis, Emma Arbuckle, Sydney DeLongi and Marilyn Doherty scored for Holy Cross.

Michelle Walsh and Kaylie Gill scored two goals apiece as Sydenham ended a two-game losing streak. Keagan MacDonald scored the other goal for the winners, as Ashley Grant and Erin Villeneuve shared the shutout.
