KC advances to OFSAA AA volleyball tournament

Posted: November 19th, 2015 @ 7:57pm

Kingston Blues are bound for the provincial boys AA volleyball championship in Kenora, after they emerged from the Eastern Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association tournament Thursday in Brockville.

The Blues defeated L’Escale of Rockland, the defending eastern Ontario champion and last year’s OFSAA bronze medalist, 2-0 in Thursday’s final.

KC rebounded nicely from its straight-sets defeat against Regiopolis Notre Dame in the Kingston Area final Sunday afternoon. The second-place team during the KASSAA regular year with a 9-2 record, the Blues beat Fellowes of Pembroke 2-0 but bowed 2-1 to L’Escale in the round robin of the six-team tournament.

KC then dispatched Carleton Place 2-0 in its semifinal match before turning the tables on L’Escale in the final.

The Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations tournament, a three-day affair, will be contested Nov. 26-28.
